As I talked about in a previous post Life is Too Short, I have come to the realization that you have to do what you love to do to be successful and happy in life.
Now success can mean any number of things and it all depends on your definition. At this point in my life it is money. I have a great family, a good education, and also the real world experience to understand what I want in life. All I am missing is millions of dollars in my bank account.
I have been working on that problem for a couple years. I have tried and started businesses that I thought had potential, but I never really enjoyed them. I am always envious of people who have a clear passion in life; no matter how strange or how many people think they are crazy.
As I read all these stories that are out there on people who took an idea and made millions with it I see a pattern. All those people were doing something they enjoyed; what they wanted to do. You take their exact situation and the exact recipe for success and put someone in that position that does not enjoy it, the company never experiences the success it did initially.
I love to read when I can. Last year I was able to read quite a few books on business. They all preached finding your passion in life and doing it. I think most of us are in a position where we like our jobs, but are defiantly not in love with our jobs or other aspects of our lives.
Through my experiences and what I have read, I believe strongly that the only way we can truly be happy in life is to do what we love. That means live where we want to, work where we want to, associate with people we want to, and everything else should be what you want.
Unfortunately it is not that easy. We can’t just up and quit our jobs and move our family without thinking it through. All of this can be done with a plan I have outlined in the Life is Too Short post. What you can do is create a plan for what it is you want and go get it.
So here is a question you need to answer; do you wake up every morning excited for the day and all that you have to accomplish?
If you answered yes, then you are all set. If you answered no, then you have to change what you are doing. Do not delay either. Start right now by reading my post Life is Too Short and create a personal action plan to get what you want out of life. It is never too late.
